Cleveland-spawned purveyors of dark, apocalyptic metal, AXIOMA, will unleash their Live Totality EP on December 6th on Stained Glass Torments. In advance of the release, today the band reveals a video for the EP’s opening title track, now playing at Decibel Magazine.

Live Totality was born from an idea brought to the band to play a live set during the total solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024. Instead of playing a live “set,” the band decided to compose and perform a piece of music to coincide with said eclipse in real time. Spanning a dense fourteen minutes, these moments during the history of this earth were chronicled to sixteen tracks by the band live on the shores of Lake Erie in Lorain, Ohio.

Attentively mixed and mastered by Noah Buchanan (Midnight, Ringworm, Shed The Skin) at Mercinary Studios in Avon, Ohio, AXIOMA decided that the massive historical sonic documentation should indeed be shared with the rest of the world. In June of 2024, AXIOMA entered Mercinary to track two more brand new compositions for the studio recordings to complete what is the Live Totality EP.

Further elaborates bassist/vocalist Aaron Dallison, “Early in 2024, we were approached by a friend to play live on lakefront property (Lake Erie) for the total solar eclipse in April. We decided to compose a piece of music that would coincide with the eclipse in real time. Luckily all of the stars aligned (pun intended), and the weather was perfect, which is not a common occurrence in Northeast Ohio. Some friends came out to film it, and we recorded the audio ourselves. We had one shot to pull it off and are stoked at the outcome of the video and audio recording! To sweeten the deal, we went into the studio and tracked some new material we were working on, thus spawning the Live Totality EP. As usual play it loud and enjoy!”

Adds Decibel Magazine, “Some of AXIOMA’s black metal tendencies are present on the new song, ‘Live Totality,’ but they’re meshed with droning, heavy doom, that offsets that sound and presents the band in a new light.”
