Belgian cinematic progressive metal band AXAMENTA have released a new music video for "Spires", taken from their acclaimed EP, Spires. The video can be watched HERE.
Spires sees AXAMENTA delve deeper into the influences that fueled their acclaimed 2006 album Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture, while also drawing inspiration from bands like PERIPHERY, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, and DEVIN TOWNSEND to forge their own unique sound. The band's experience producing Hollywood trailer music for blockbusters such as Old (2021), Prey (2022), and The Pope’s Exorcist (2023) has infused Spires with an organic horror atmosphere. The EP immerses listeners in its intricate story, adorned with imagery that oozes from the lyrics, inviting them to skulk amidst the cold and fragile gossamer threads of the music, revel in the purgatorial storm, and burn with the remorse of unbearable guilt alongside the album's tortured protagonist. As listeners navigate through layer upon layer of musical and lyrical storytelling, they will steer this burning hearse into the cold depths of hell that comprise the story's finale.
Spires showcases a modern progressive slant, laced with a bone-chilling, organic horror atmosphere. Presented as a 23-minute track divided into seven acts, the EP dives deeper into vocal harmonies, musical storytelling, and an all-around cinematic atmosphere than ever before, aiming to push the boundaries of modern metal and challenge conventional norms. Fierce growls lay atop blankets of delicate, intricate melodies, giving the music the edge and beauty it needs to convey such an emotionally complex story.
