At the Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg has died at 52 due to complications from his cancer treatment. The band announced his passing, expressing that despite medical efforts, they could not save him. They remember him as an inspiration, a true friend, and a generous person who will be missed greatly.

Lindberg had been receiving hospital care after being diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) in December 2023. This type of cancer affects the mouth and palate, and he underwent major surgery that affected the roof of his mouth. In a statement released last month, he shared that remnants of the cancer were discovered after his surgery and subsequent radiation treatments.

He was also involved in other bands, like Lock Up and The Lurking Fear. Before his surgery, Lindberg recorded his vocals for the upcoming At the Gates album in just one day. In his closing message to fans, he urged everyone to take care of themselves and cherish their time with loved ones.
