As The Sun Falls to release "Where The Silence Reigns" in October!

Two years following the release of their "Far Beyond" EP, Finnish melodic death-metal collective As The Sun Falls will return this fall with a new EP titled "Where The Silence Reigns", now scheduled for release on October 13th to coincide with band's forthcoming European tour.
Formed in Switzerland during the spring of 2020 amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the musical journey of "As The Sun Falls" began as a solo project initiated by guitarist and songwriter Jani Mikkänen. Originally an outlet for Jani's personal introspection, the project eventually evolved into a collaborative endeavor that explored themes encompassing Nordic winter, Finnish cultural elements, solitude, and mortality.
In the initial stages of their existence, "As The Sun Falls" released a Demo EP titled "Dreams of Far Lands." This introductory offering provided a glimpse into the project's potential, revealing a penchant for emotive compositions and ambient soundscapes. The project's themes and evocative lyrics served as a foundation for what was to come.
With the passage of time, the project expanded to include additional members. This expansion was paralleled by the release of the single "Memoriam" that preceded the band's inaugural sold-out performance in October 2020, signaling a growing resonance with their audience.
Toward the end of 2020, As The Sun Falls released the single "Where The Sun Shines No More," a reflection of their capacity to encapsulate intricate emotions through their music. This release solidified their presence and led to the release of their highly anticipated debut album in September 2021, an outcome that marked a culmination of their creative journey and an homage to their Finnish roots.
Building on their repertoire, the band introduced two EPs entitled "Memoriam" in 2021 and "Far Beyond" in 2022, in addition to a series of standalone singles. Their music's enchanting melodies and thought-provoking lyrics propelled them to headline several shows across Switzerland and Lithuania, sharing stages with prominent bands such as Wolfheart, Draconian, Kataklysm, and Aeonian Sorrow. These experiences not only broadened their horizons but also played a role in shaping their identity within the melancholic metal scene.
Renowned for their emotional and powerful live shows, As The Sun Falls has consistently connected with audiences through their captivating performances on stage. In 2022, the band encountered a significant turning point when Jani Mikkänen relocated to Finland, prompting the incorporation of new members. This transition marked a shift in the band's dynamic, and they retreated during the winter of 2022-2023 to work on their second album, foreshadowing an exploration of uncharted sonic territories.
In Spring 2023, "As The Sun Falls" embarked on the Northern Melancholy Tour, headlining shows across the Baltic states and central Europe, showcasing their ability to translate their evocative music into powerful live experiences.
With lyrics that seamlessly weave between English and Finnish, As The Sun Falls beckons listeners into an evocative realm where language is transcended by sentiment. Their music invites contemplation of the interplay between various dichotomies, including beauty and danger, solitude and camaraderie, and life and death. As their impending album and EP beckon on the horizon, As The Sun Falls is poised to continue their trajectory of resonating with audiences, creating an immersive experience through their emotive melodies and themes.
