Within the long, dark corridors of my mind there are numberless doors, all locked tight, concealing the prisoner’s of my heart’s creation. In these rooms I vent my passions, bathe in the screams, dissect and desecrate, peel and penetrate, lose myself in a fantasy of blood and power. And for as long as I can remember this has been enough for me; my internal dungeon paradise. But now I realise it has all just been a preparation, a gentle tuition, the beginning of my manifest destiny. The time has come to step outside and share my dreams with others…
It’s been more than five years since Houston’s Architectural Genocide released their cataclysmic debut album, the raging brutality of Cordyceptic Anthropomorph, but time has not mellowed them or soothed the temperament of their inner beast. If anything, their long awaited second album is an even more dangerous, vicious creation that adds an unnerving, skin crawling terror to their trademark elixir of darkness and depravity. Prepare yourself for the fearsome assault of Malignant Cognition!
Opening with ‘Precursor To Bloodshed’, a litany of horrors over a nerve-grinding riff, there is a sense of suppressed violence, silently screaming to be unleashed…and that unleashing comes with ‘Coercion Into Carnality’, an irresistible weight that drags you down into a mire of torture and sickness, shifting from the methodical to the frenzied with the unpredictability of a broken mind. And from here the remorseless attack continues unabated – from the slow motion compression of the internal organs blended with lacerating savagery of ‘Trophies For My Murders’, to the surging, stabbing ‘Zed Requiem’ – tormenting with a pitiless curiosity, devoid of empathy – on to the shocking climax of ‘Stuffed Under Floorboards’. This is perhaps the most potent combination of chilling atmosphere and punishing riffing that Architectural Genocide have yet invoked, a true monster of a song, meticulous in its dismembering delivery.
Encased in the superb artwork of Rudi Yanto (Devastrosity, E-Force, Perveration etc) and Den Yudi (Decrepitation, Realm Of Chaos, Rotting Demise etc), the perfect visual depiction of the soul-eating madness within, Malignant Cognition will be let loose by Comatose Music on January 16th. Mixed and mastered at Southwing Audio (Oceans Of Slumber, Stabbing etc) for maximum impact, Malignant Cognition serves up a banquet of Architectural Genocide’s inimitable brutality. The New Year will begin with a brutal death metal holocaust!
