Above Us The Waves (AUTW) are a five-piece band from Kavala, Greece, blending the ferocity of melodic death metal with the raw energy of hardcore. Once described as “a well-oiled machine producing high-quality modern metal,” AUTW have spent the last 15 years cementing their place as one of the most prominent acts in the Greek underground.

After their first demo EP in 2011 and countless live shows across Greece, the band released their debut album Anchors Aweigh (2013, Spreading Dysphoria Industries), which earned glowing reviews from RockHard and Metal Hammer, and was ranked among Sonik magazine’s top Greek releases of the year.

Their second album, Rough on High Seas (2018, GROWL / Rock of Angels Records), produced by Jay Maas (Defeater, Bane, Counterparts, State Champs), marked a leap forward in both sound and vision, intense, organic, and lyrically sharp, while still rooted in melody.

On stage, AUTW live up to their reputation as a driven, live-first band. They’ve embarked on multiple DIY European tours, hit festival stages like Rockstadt Extreme and Rock-Off, and shared stages with heavyweights including Bullet for My Valentine, Lamb of God, Unearth, Comeback Kid, Caliban, Defeater, and Rotting Christ.

In late 2025, AUTW return with their new EP Counting Seasons (out October 17, 2025), mixed and mastered by Kyle Black (Paramore, All Time Low, Comeback Kid, Pierce the Veil, Volumes). It’s a fresh chapter for the band, capturing their continued evolution while staying true to their roots, heavy, passionate, and built to leave a mark.
