In The End, Was It Worth It? is the second album from the Québec City-based metal band SCARE, which will be released this Friday. The band, consisting of guitarist Gabrielle Noel Begin, bassist Jon Fillion, drummer Xavier Laprade, and vocalist Philip Roy, draws inspiration from bands like Cursed and Buried Inside. Their music combines intense sludge and hardcore elements, characterized by strong grooves. Since forming in 2015, they have released a demo, several EPs, and a debut LP.
The band's music reflects modern life's anxieties and inner struggles, creating a distinct sound that addresses dark themes while offering a sense of hope. Their new album features thirteen tracks that remind listeners of horror and weird fiction, and it showcases the harsh realities of life alongside a desire for better outcomes. The album was recorded and mixed by Ryan Battistuzzi and includes artwork by Kevin Martel.
SCARE describes their creative process as an exorcism, with each song representing deep emotions. The album confronts issues of inner torment and societal problems. It will be available digitally and on vinyl starting February 21st, followed by a release show on February 22nd, with more dates to be announced.
