SAKAHITER: REISSUE AND DEAL WITH NOVA ERA RECORDS!

The band was formed in Campobasso in the summer of 2002 with the original name of "Exsecror". On December 2002 the old moniker was rejected for another band's name homonymy and the name Sakahiter was chosed, a Osca's word which means "let it be sacrified". The term more specifically indicated the sacrifices of men and animals to propitiate the gods before a battle, a ceremony deeply rooted in the Samnites. Osco was chosen because it is the ancient language of the Samnites, a warrior people originally from a small area of central southern Italy that includes Molise, Campania and Basilicata. The band identifies their own style as Samnite Black Metal, as both the lyrics and the iconography refer to the history of the Samnites. An 1879 engraving depicting the defeat of the Romans by the Samnites and the humiliation of the Forche Caudine was used as the cover.After several live dates and some line-up changes, the band recorded at the 16th Cellar Studios of Stefano Morabito, also in Rome, "Omnes eiura deos", a 7" on vinyl, which came out in early 2005.In 2022 Sakahiter sign a contract with Nova Era Records to release a new EP, "Legio linteata," reissue "Lex sacrata," their first demo, and digitally release their previous works, now available on all major digital stores. Sakahiter boasts numerous gigs with bands such as Sodom, Dismember, Onslaught, Belphegor, Master, Necrodeath and in addition to resuming live activity they are now working on recordings for a full length due out by the end of the year.
