Swedish death metal band DEAD MAN’S PATH are set to release new EP ‘HELVETET PÅ JORDEN.’ The band’s classic sound is rooted in traditional Swedish death metal but has a modern twist, ensuring their music incorporates their vast influences to allow their own unique spin on the genre. The band’s music delves into the dark and mystical with lyrics telling tales of creatures from Swedish folklore.
Although the band is relatively new, having formed in late 2019, the members are experienced in traversing the underground, coming from such groups as TOTEM SKIN, THE MEMORY REMAINS, RÖTA and LYSIS. The band has become well known for their live shows, which offer an intense and visceral experience combined with a theatrical presence and raw energy.
The vocals for ‘HELVETET PÅ JORDEN’ were recorded 80 meters underground in an old abandoned mine. The natural echo and reverb of the mine adds an authentic, subterranean feel to the vocals. This DIY approach honors the roots of death metal and leaves their vision uncompromised. The album’s title translates to “Hell on Earth,” an apt description for their raw and uncompromising approach to the album’s dark folklore storyline of Gruvfrun, a guardian spirit of mines.
