BRUTAL DEATH METAL BY SANATORIUM IN FEBRUARY FOR THE FIRST TIME ON VINYL!

Jason Hesley

Although SANATORIUM from the Slovak city of Žilina released their last studio recording in 2004, their name and logo did not fade away from the brutal death metal scene around the world. Loyal fans don’t forget. Especially in 1999-2009, SANATORIUM were highly active. They basically played all over Europe, plus a tour of Russia. There were many European tours, e.g., with LIVIDITY, CENTINEX, a longer one with DISGORGE, INTERNAL SUFFERING, SOILS OF FATE or ABYSMAL TORMENT. After 2011, SANATORIUM took their foot off the gas significantly, playing only a handful of concerts per year, also due to the fact that their frontman Martin “Belo” Belobrad moved to the United Arab Emirates.

In 2019, we recalled the 20th anniversary of the release of their first album, “Arrival Of The Forgotten Ones”, which resulted in a CD re-release of this recording (with a restored front cover, a new booklet, and improved sound) and the return of SANATORIUM to the concert stage. The aforementioned CD re-release took place on February 20, 2019, supplemented with two demo recordings, “Subculture” (1995) and “Autumn Shadows” (1996).

This CD, already sold out, was pressed in a circulation of 3,500 copies and, outside of the Czech and Slovak territories, was distributed to collectors in almost every corner of the world. SANATORIUM also supported this re-release with several concerts in Slovakia, and then they moved back to hibernation for the next five years.

In 2024, the perfect time comes to celebrate 25 years of “Arrival Of The Forgotten Ones” by listening to vinyl, with graphics taken from the CD re-release. Due to the limited playing time of the LP, the demo recordings were omitted.
